Title: Ariens Snowblower turbo intercooled :)
Post by: RedRotors on January 03, 2014, 01:40:09 pm
Here's my toy for this winter, it's a Ariens snowblower which i replaced the 10hp engine with
a 6.5hp diesel one last year. Was as powerful as the 10hp, but this year I added a RHB31 with
an intercooler.. Injector and the fuel pump has been modd. Full load it push 9psi, MUCH more
powerful ! Hunger gearing has also been modded so it spiin 3x faster.. ;)

That's fantastic. How is your fuel consumption?

Pretty good actually, half a tank to clear both driveway and the front of my garage ( 2 doors ).. Pretty impressed even
if the fuel delivery system has been heavily modded.. ;)

Looks funky!

What brand is the engine?   What about starting in cold weather?  - starting aids - ie: glowplugs, electric start, compression release?

What have you done to the gearing for drivetrain & auger

thanks

And we need to see a video :)

Given the ambient temperatures it'll be working in it is probably just fine without... ;)

Well, it's a chinese yanmar clone, i used to bought a few of them. DEK is the company.. The engine has no GP, it's a direct injection ( DI ). I removed the starter to make room for the turbo, but with the compression release, it's easy to start..

No video yet, as it rained and now temperature drop and it's frozen everywhere.. When the snow will be here again, I'll
make a clip.. :))

I modded the pulley of the auger to make it spin faster, also modded the fan to make it more tight in the auger..

The IC stay cold.. Maybe it cool down the air a little, but it act as an air reserve.. WOT, it run at 3600rpm
