Title: What EGT probe and gauge are we using?
Post by: fatmobile on February 06, 2020, 09:56:46 pm
I used to get my EGT probes and gauges from aircraft spruce.
A westach gauge that went as low as 100F.
Now they only have one that goes down to 700F.
My old part numbers don't work there any more,.. I haven't called them yet.

So I'm wondering what others are using for EGT gauges and probes.
I liked the fast reacting skinny probes. K type thermocouples.
I see some on ebay like that.
 Has anyone tried them?

You can still get the 2C2-1 directly from Westach fairly reasonably.  http://www.westach.com/   ...and search for 2C2-1.  I haven't ordered directly from them before, though, so I can't speak to the experience.

The probe I've always used is the micro-1000 1/8" which is still available from aircraftspruce.  It is part # Part# 10-01478.

Oh, I see it. My part number was missing a 1.
Kind of a spendy little probe. $76.25 before shipping.
I'll have to see if I can get just the probe, instead of the kit.

I don't need everything else in that picture.
I got extra NPT/compression fittings last time.

Just ordered a 2c2-1, EGT gauge from westach. For $66.90
They didn't have it listed, but after I bought a 2C2-19, which is 2", 200F-1400F, and looks like it has a white face.
they contacted me mentioning me ordering the 2C2-1 last time.
https://www.westach.com/product-page/2c2-1
The 2C2-1 is 2" gauge, 100F-1900F, with a black face. He's going to take a picture of mine after he makes it and post to the link.
He added it to the list of EGTs today and changed my order for me.
I suppose the 2C2-19 would be fine. I don't intend to go over 1200 so a gauge that goes to 1400F would work fine.
https://www.westach.com/product-page/2c2-19
And under 200F isn't used much, don't really need it to go down to 100F.
Probably could get him to offer the 2C2-19 with a black face.
He makes them by hand in Ramona California after you order so wait time is 4-5 weeks.

I got my gauges from westach.
I ordered 2 of the 2C2-1 and wanted to try one of the 2C2-19.

He sent me all 2C2-19 200F-1900F.
Instead of the 2C2-1 200F-1400F that I ordered.

When I ordered my senders from aircraft spruce,
I also ordered some wire.
It was multistrand instead of the nice single strand I got from Libby.

I also ordered a couple 1/8" NPT fittings so they
https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pnpages/10-01473.php
They sent just the fittings no ferrals or caps,.. unuseable.
I have ordered these before and I got the whole useable fitting.

I haven't gotten the senders yet.
Wondering if when they send the senders,..
are they going to come with incomplete fittings?

I'm using a Dynoracing EGT gauge with probe from aliexpress. Works pretty well for the price.
