i have two engine and transmission
One is in my car 1.9TD k14 378,500kms
and another in my garage 1.9TD forget what turbo, but one stud broken :'( 330,000 kms
The one in my car has new atlernator and water pump
One in my garage idk whats new whats old.
My question is, which one would be better to rebuild? what do i look for in regards in condition for a rebuild? one in my car is ALOT (spotless) cleaner other one isnt.
What do i need?

If your rebuilding it, why does it matter?
over 300k your going to want to replace most parts and get them remachined anyway and as for ancilleries, just swap on your known good ones.

use the one in the garage, then you can continue driving your car as you build the new engine.

Ha.
A couple or wrenches, and a socket set and your set. Most popular size being a 13mm socket for alot of stuff. Make sure you have some 5mm and 6mm allen keys. And a set of 12 point sockets for the pressure plate and rod caps. And last but not least, a set (or at least an 8mm) triple square bit for the cv axles. The head bolts are triple square to but I used a torx bit and it worked just fine.
There is NO special tools needed for anything on the engine, besides the triple square bit of course.
One of the 1.9TD's was the first engine Ive even torn down and rebuilt and its all gone back together so far, so it must not be that hard :P

Koady you can snag the triple squares in Part Source. They are made by Performance tool and you'll have the one for the cv's and the one for the head. I think they set me back a whopping 10 bucks.

Crappy tire sells them also for about the same price. A hell of alot cheaper then the Snap On set thats around 200 bucks

Only other thing I would highly recommend would be a Bentley manual. Actually you really can't rebuild an engine without it since it has all the torque values, wear specs, etc.

IIRC it has some missing values, which is why the DPO of my car gave me both with the sale.

Koady, its fairly easy to take the motors apart,
Just remember to push the cylinders up thru the top when taking them out.
