Title: Audi or Fox oil pan on an AAZ?
Post by: Spokerider on November 05, 2018, 09:57:00 am
Guys,
I'm wanting to do some oil pan fab mods on an AAZ oil pan, to allow for more clearance between the oil pan and the Samurai axle / diff housing.

I can either mod the original aaz pan, or, it has been suggested that an Audi or Fox oil pan may be a better starting point, as it is deeper in the rear [ cyl 3 and 4 ] than an aaz. Any depth and volume removed from the front of the pan will need to be added to the rear, so it still holds 5 liters.

Will a Fox or Audi pan bolt up to the aaz block? Which years will work?
 Anyone done this?

 Thanks.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I would check in with ACME adapters since they build swap kits and I know the offer their pan separate and I'm happy with mine in my sidekick!

The Quantum/Fox/Audi (logitudinal) pan will bolt up to the AAZ fine.

Thank you libby for that.
Do you know if the aaz windage tray will fit without problems? Ditto for the oem aaz oi pick-up tube?

 Thank you.

The windage tray needs to be modified slightly to fit.  I've done so before.  You should use the Quantum/Audi oil pump pickup tube as the angle is a little different.

I have a transverse oil pan and windage tray that is already modified to fit that I'd be happy to sell if you're interested.  The windage tray is used but in very good condition and did not leak.
