Title: 06 TDI BRM Jetta Cranks But NO Start
Post by: lovevws on December 02, 2021, 01:43:21 am
06 Jetta tdi, I think BRM engine code, automatic transmission
Cranks, but wont start.
Tachometer moves a bit while cranking. Ive put quite a lot of hours into working on this to get it running, but nothing.
Trouble code says crank position sensor, so replaced it many times, doesnt fix it, still wont run.
Replaced in tank fuel pump, still nothing. Pump pressure is good.
Replaced the high pressure pump, nothing, no difference.
Made sure the belt was spinning the cam shaft, all good.

Does anyone know some sort of trick of what to check?

Just spitballing...  If the code says crank position sensor and you've replaced it, was the trigger wheel on the crank in good condition?  Wiring to/from sensor?

Im not sure, it was really hard to see in there at the trigger wheel. I even sprayed in there and compressed air to try and clean the trigger wheel.
Ive even cleaned grounds up under battery etc, Ive read all the posts on all the sites. Checked the flapper thing on intake everything.
The wiring is really skinny skimpy wires going to the crank sensor, not impressed with that. Hope its ok. Wonder how I test that.
Previous mechanics changed the crank sensor too and no luck, they gave up on the car too.
Ive read lots of posts, seems like lots of these years have this same problem.

Can you disconnect the ECU and check the wires from the sensor to a pin on the ECU for conductivity?
