Title: WTB: For the Canadians. MK1 1.6TD turbo downpipe
Post by: Quantum TD on September 14, 2011, 02:23:33 am
Yeah, yeah. I know. Join the club.

I'm not handy with fabrication, and don't feel like buying one from TT.

Looking for a cast iron downpipe (hot side to toilet bowl) for a MK1. The part number (if it's still legible) will begin with "171", rather than "191".

Let me know!

I figure my best bet is Canada (more MK1 TDs up there eh?). But will buy from whomever. I'd even take two if you had them.

if you can find a mk3 downpipe it's an easy mod to make it fit a mk1, just cut it on the outlet side of the flex section and from there it's just one 90 deg bend. super easy to do. I have one in my garage for a K03 pictured below. The top is off a 97 TD jetta and the bottom half is a stock mk1 TD pipe that I cut the toilet bowl off. I'd get a 2" diameter 90 mandrel and weld it to one of those if you can find one. I'm out of sqaure flange Mk3 pipes right now.

I'm with him. Running a mk 3 pipe in my mk 2. Came off a k14, will bolt to your t3 or k24. Probably have to cut it like he says...
