Title: Oil Filter Bracket (Mount)
Post by: thomas m on October 14, 2017, 02:09:28 pm
Is there a pressure switch/valve in the oil filter bracket? I refer to the aluminum casting to which the oil filter mounts. Could this be a contributor to low oil pressure??? Mine is a 1.6 non-turbo diesel.  I read this in another forum. Specs below.

Nope - it's just a couple of passages. There is a pressure relief valve in the oil pump itself though.

Vanbcguy,   That is what I was thinking, that there is a way to measure temperature or pressure off the oil flange but no actual valve.  Never heard of anything that would sense oil temp and pass it through a heater like some auxiliary coolers do.

But I thought to mention the oil pump relief valve on the pump itself.  Search this forum for dismantle, clean and repair of the pump relief valve.  You might have a piece of something in there that is keep the full pressure from building up to where it should.
