I just picked the engine up thinking it would be a snap to swap into my 81 Rabbit but it turns out it will require a lot more money than I wish to put into a $350 daily beater. IE huge nozzles, injectors, lines that I need to make it work with a mechanical pump.
The good: Motor has less than 100k miles and is in great shape. No damage, was running when it was pulled from the wrecked jetta.
The bad: no injection pump, injectors, or turbo. I see the turbo for sale all the time on TDIclub and vwdiesel.net. The engine is otherwise complete with accessories, vacuum pump, some of the wiring, all of the sensors etc etc.
Price: $500 or best offer. Pickup only. I am located in Syracuse NY 13090

I see the timing belt just hanging there and can't help but wince a bit at that sight. Whatever you do, don't let the crankshaft move. Valve stems are very thin little things and they bend sooooooo easily.

email sent.. the only reason why the timing belt is hanging there is because of the injection pump removal. From what I can gather it ran when it came out of the car.
