Title: 1.6l IDI Crank pulley wobble
Post by: Iamvandemon on July 11, 2020, 05:13:34 pm
Hello,

Have any of you seen a 1.6l with a crank pulley wobble? I have one out of a 89 that wobbles like crazy and has for some time. I just replaced the timing and the end of the crank does not show any wear or damage.

It seems that either the pulley is bent or the crank is bent. I ordered a new pulley and will mic the end of the crank before I put it on.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Van

pulley is bent. Crank is never bent without some sort of serious visible injury. I had a precup fall in a 1.6, bent the rod into an S, windowed the block, and the crank was fine.

There is a bump on the sprocket that matches a hole in the pully.

theman53: Thanks for the reply. I hope you are right. The new pully shipped last week so hopefully I will be putting it in this weekend.

fatmobile: lol, that would be a sad mistake. Thanks for the tip though. :)  The tab and corresponding hole are lined up...

I installed the new pully today. Spins straight as an arrow and belt no longer banjos... Thanks for the responses.
