The BOV is mounted to the intake manifold, and bleeds excess boost back into the compressor intake hose. In the photo below I have removed the BOV, but you can see where it mounts at the end of the intake manifold (right in photo).

In this photo, you can see where I have plugged the BOV by adding a plastic cap from a spray can. This cheaply and eaily totally defeats the BOV. [CAUTION: Defeating the BOV can lead to overboost condition and severe engine damage. Proceed at your own risk!]

you can made easily... just take out the little pipe into the intake (after air cleaner) and put a pepsi... or 7up... i don't care.. and put it in and tight it with what you take to tight any other hose.. :D I've got the word on my lips but .. it stay there.. lol!!

Good luck..

Is it really an overboost vent valve or perhaps just a bypass valve to suck in air when the turbo is not running? I guess I should take it out and see for myself. BOV's as such are not exactly common (or even used at all) on diesels... and the hose to the intake tube tore off on mine so I have a good reason to mess with it :P

Its really more for protection, incase wastegate fails and turbo overboosts etc

Why not just tap a freeze plug into the hole? Or if you want a temporary fix, put a rubber plug on the outside of the valve? I would worry about that cap falling into the intake and/or melting.

Reading the archives I just saw a pic where someone had made up a blockoff plate and installed it using the stock clamp and RTV. I thought that was a pretty neat solution. Don't remember who though.
