Title: "CYT" TDI Transmission
Post by: TPW on October 31, 2010, 10:51:57 pm
I need some info on a transmission out of a 1996 Audi A6 2.5 TDI Quattro Avant. Will it easily bolt up to my 1983 5 cylinder turbo diesel?  Does it have a center Torsen Differential?  What is the electric assembly on the transmission's right side for?  Thanks in advance for any help.

It will bolt to any 5 cylinder block and it has Torsen inside. Picture of electric assembly? Reverse switch?

There are two photos on this link.  The lower shows the right side.  On the left side there are numbers stamped on the side. Do these mean anything?  If this is an 01E, is the transmission's main shaft the same length and diameter as the 016 I have now?  Will I need a different clutch disk?

Itīs reverse light switch. And it is 01E. There are different length and spline main shafts. My 4 cyl 016 has same 24 spline as mk2 Golf 020. 01E (and possibly later 016?) has Audi 23 spline. My 016 has same length shaft as 01E, but some typ44 transmissions have longer. Guys at MG will know this better for sure.
