Title: Pulling AHU harness from wreckers?
Post by: b1rdjx88 on January 08, 2008, 02:38:38 pm
I understand many people set up m-tdi engines in their swaps to get around the headache of dealing with the harness, ecu, immobilizer, etc of an electronic tdi swap.

I also understand however, that the wiring of earlier AHU engines was much simpler than that of the ALH and pompe deuse (sp?) engines, mainly due to the absence of an immobilizer.

Do you think it would be reasonable to attempt an e-tdi swap into a mk3 aaz car, without using a tdi parts car?  I assume I could get the engine, ecu, dash harness, and pedal assembly from a wreckers. It seems this would be much cheaper than spending $1000 setting up an m-tdi pump (I would only be looking for stock hp for the time being).  Where would I run into big problems?
