Title: extra line from or to injection pump
Post by: Blue Haze on April 09, 2013, 01:53:20 pm
After my installer put in my 1.9 AAZ motor I noticed an extra fuel type line not connected to anything it goes back to the fuel fill above the tank.  I believe that it a vent line but not sure.  Does not seem to effect the running of the engine; however, it is hard to get to fire off after it has sat for any length of time.  Where should this connect on the injection pump?

What engine did you have in there before? Can you take a picture of both ends of the line and what they are hooked up to presently?

I had a 1.6 NA motor in there previously.  The one end is connected to the fill pipe to the fuel tank and the other end is presently open not connected to anything.

There is only three fuel lines on any of these injection pumps. One large one near the pulley, another large one at the other end or on top, and a small one that meets this last one as well coming from the injectors.

I don't know what vehicle you are driving (please take the time in the profile to add what car you drive so it will be easier to troubleshoot in the future.) If it is mk1, then that is probably definitely more than likely a tank vent lol ;).

MkI diesels have a vent line coming from the tank that disappears into a hole in the front member next to the engine on the pass. side.
