Title: New version of wiper delay
Post by: theman53 on January 26, 2015, 01:11:15 pm
I know years ago I read Vince and others guide to replacing the mkii with the mkiii relay and setting the delay by turning the wiper on and off. I like this way better. I will see how much and probably do this as I like the idea.

Thanks for posting that...

I've been thinking about a wiper delay mod, since I just repacked the grease in my 86TD wiper motor and they are much faster now.  :-)

I didn't consider the change of the capacitor, but that makes good sense and clearly it works for that guy.

Yeah, I have a solder gun and don't know if I can get in to do it, but I have a couple relays and will give it a shot. I like the idea

The 99 relay is a nice easy mod. But does anybody know what can be hacked on the circuit to set the rear wipe to a longer interval, as the standard seven seconds is a bit too often. ;)

Generally, an increase of resistor value in the R-C delay section will make a longer interval, a variable resistor will allow for adjustment. In the OP, a larger capacitor was also used to increase the available range.
