Title: It never ends, now the injector returns are leaking.
Post by: rabbitman on February 08, 2012, 11:23:35 pm
Yup, I couldn't get one injector to stop leaking where the halves join so I mixed parts, got it to seal and got the spray right......installed it in the engine and it leaks pretty bad at the nipple base.

So is there a way to get it to seal again or am I back at square one?

P.S. I did study it closely to verify it's not just the hose leaking, I blew it dry and could see that the diesel formed at the base of the nipple rather than run down to the base.

I'd try to fix it but if someone has a good method I'll try that rather than mess it up trying something that doesn't work.

You could try (gently) lapping the halves, if you're sure that's where they are leaking:

The halves is where is WAS leaking, now it's the base of the nipples and it's a really bad leak. I can blow it off and watch diesel re-wet it in less than 10 seconds.

Normally I don't believe in spackle, but I've used JB Weld to fix AAZ injector nipples broken using a socket that was too narrow... the area is under relatively low pressure and temperature, and the fix lasted 4 years till the car was sold.

Well I tapped on the end of the nipple and it lowed down to where I have to study it really close to see any wetness appear.

Now that same injector must be popping later than the rest since the miss at idle doesn't change when I crack it.........and a different injector is popping too soon and clacks more than the rest, even gets quiet when I crack that one.......yup it never ends. I shoulda just bought new injectors in the beginning.
