Title: cold start stuck open....
Post by: Vohaul on January 26, 2011, 09:17:08 pm
Hey all,

My cold start handle doesnt go back in...when i try it just "springs" back out....and even when i hold it closed..the idle doesnt decrease......where do i look to unstick it?...(the high idle gets a bit annoying..specially as my exhaust is a bit loose and rattles against a heatshield underneath somewhere at certian rpms:))

on a related note....do you use more fuel if you leave the cold start handle "on"?          oh, 93 jetta  1.9 TD AAZ

Thanks

Paul

Look at the other end of the cable and see what's hanging up, you can poke the lever on the IP with a screwdriver to put it back.

ya, ill check that on the weekend......i think i might of bent it when i was changing out the glowplugs.........although it did it once before and it eventually became unstuck........

so does it use more fuel.....?

It's idling higher so I'd say slightly, but of course that's only at idle, at driving RPM the knob has absolutely no effect on anything.
