Title: Engine hangs at 2000 rpm's
Post by: srgtlord on July 22, 2022, 08:58:59 am
After making an 80 mile trip on the highway in my 85 golf the car refuses to behave under 30mph. It bucks and jerks and the engine hangs at 2000 rpms but eventually settles down. Any thoughts? I'm going to change out the fuel filter for giggles

Solved:

The bolt at the back of the injection pump bracket fell off on the highway

Seems like anytime the RPMs start surging or hanging the first thing to check is the mounting bracket.  And as you found, it was ahh missing an important piece.

Glad you found it.
