Title: Installation of GTD injector nozzles
Post by: jimbrown618 on March 12, 2006, 08:37:47 pm
Hi,

I'm getting some GTD injector nozzles from Smog & was wondering what you would charge to pop test/balance them & install into my 97 Golf TD. My current injectors seem to be wotking fine but I got this car as-is back in Jan with 336000 kms & do not know it's full history. It had it's timing belt changed at 300k & injector pump rebuilt around the same time. I'm up in Borden, west of Barrie but would not mind the drive down to your area. Cheers.

Hi Giles,
I wonder if this is the right place to ask you two questions about your pumps. I already have one of your moded pumps by-the-way.

1) How much HP and torque (approximately) one should expect from a completely remaned  stock AAZ equiped with your moded VE pumps and a Garrett T3?

2) Are the pumps rebuilt by your shop B100 compatible?

Philippe.

Philippe has already gotten in touch with us and gotten his pump done. We're looking forward to hearing how that project turns out, too.  :)
As for the questions:
1) Depends on boost pressures, intercooler, etc. Charging system will make the results quite variable.
2) All of our rebuilt pumps are fully B100 compatible - however, there is no manufacturer warranty on them. Rather than re-typing all of the reasoning for it, I'll link to a previous thread talking about biodiesel / manufacturer support / "caveat emptor" (buyer beware) on biodiesel stuff.

Did you ever make a sticker/decal so we can all advertise for you?
Title: Giles' contact info
Post by: BejamminR on April 22, 2008, 10:36:41 am
Giles hasn't got the stickers yet, but they are in progress.

In this case, "In Progress" means "We think we should have them, but haven't gotten them made yet"!  8)

We would like to have some stickers / decals as well - we've talked about bumper stickers and window stickers (We're talking about them as we speak)
As soon as we get'em made, I'll post about it here. We'll likely start sending them out along with pumps (and to the folks who already have pumps).

What kind of stuff would you like to see on the sticker? Any particular tagline, graphics, whatever?

Let me know and I'll see if I can get it included in a design!

Hahaha. You may (or may not) be surprised to know that this was in fact our plan.

I'll start pelting Giles with spitballs in order to encourage him to procure these stickers.

Add another happy customer to the list.  Great work and excelent to deal with.

I'm torn about getting some decals to put on while autocrossing.  I had LOTS of folks interested in the diesel, but I almost don't want my competition knowing what I did to make it fast.

thanks y'all

Hahaha.

Well Ted, I guess that from where we stand, it's a good problem for you to have. 8)

And with that in mind, you had to do a lot of additional work to your setup in order to be able to make use of the extreme performance that we provided in your case. So the barrier to entry for your competition is still set reasonably high.

DON'T be an idiot like me.
If you send Giles a pump drain the diesel out before shipping. I didn't think about it...the pump had a little in it, but I thought if it hadn't leaked out in 7 years....I didn't even have that thought process until I had talked to Giles and he asked if I drained it or not.

Please, drain your pump before sending to Canada. Not only will you like not having to talk to the post office for hours, but they won't think your a terrorist either:D

My pump is on its way, but I had a question.  What should I set the injection timing to?

Any advice would help.

Thanks in advance.

i like to tell people to set their timing to .95mm but every engine
is diferent and you might have to change it a little bit after.

that is a good starting point. i build into your pump lots of dynamic
timing so you don't need to add static timing like a stock pump.

sorry to bring this out of the dead but it has not been asked before.

is there an additional fee if supplying an NA pump for use in a TD performance pump? Please excuse my ignorance as there may be differences in the internals, and i know there is no boost compensation. my N/A pump is still good so i can easily sell it used and pick up a TD pump that needs a rebuild.

just wondering what route i should take
Title: Re: Giles' contact info
Post by: Giles@PerformanceDiesel on March 13, 2010, 10:41:55 pm
Hi great to hear from you.
if you give me an NA pump to build as a turbo pump then yes there will be extra charges since the two pumps
are very different inside and as you metion it doesn't have the LDA. there are enough differences that you really
need the turbo pump to start with.  so by all means sell your NA and get a turbo pump. pls make sure the core
you buy has good internals, no rust or damagdes inside. too often people buy cores to send me and get a dud
pump that will need allot of extra parts and or cleaning which will incure more charges at my shop.
we sell Turbo cores for $250 and there are no extra charges and you don't have any shipping charges too.

hope this helps explain
Giles

thanks giles! ill post mine up as a drop-in and see if i can pick up a good usable TD pump. see if i can find one from a running car that needs a reseal
Title: Re: Giles' contact info

Giles, do you do regular reseals, i.e. NOT build a super-pump? Just thinking of those like me on a budget who want a quality reseal, but can't yet afford the cost of the upgrade. If you only do SUPER PUMPS, can you or anyone else recommend a good rebuilder on the internet?

THANKS!

He did. About a year ago. He said he did some machining to make the dynamic advance come on faster, and some other things. Search his posts you will find it. For the piece of mind and what not it really isn't that much money to have him build one.

Just wanted to give everyone an update about Performance Diesel Injection shop during our hard times right now.
we've been non stop going since Covid started, all the lockdowns and shut downs has actually made us busier as i think people are doing more projects at home and also fixing things they might have putting off for a while.

Current pricing for 2021 is as follows.

1.6L NA performance pump   $1000
1.6L Turbo performance pump $1200
1.9L Turbo performance pump $1200
For any of these above non-performance pump stock rebuild -$200 of these prices

IDI injectors are prices as follows

1.6L NA or Turbo $95 each
1.9L AAZ $115 each

1.9L TDI 1Z, AHU or ALH (Man or Auto)  $1000  (with advance mod and fuel tweaked high side)

TDI injectors can be built with almost any option of nozzles you want.
P520 (.205) are $135 each
P502 (.216) are $155 each
we use German made nozzles of very high quality  (DTP brand)

M-TDI pump

$1500 with customer providing 3 core pumps,
TDI pump
AAZ pump with same style mount as your original TDI pump
any 1.6L pump

Options with my M-TDI pump are many, if you give me 10mm pump then you get pump with 10mm.  If you give me 11mm pump then pump is built with 11mm pump.

If you want bigger i can do that too, more $ of course.  If you want really big i can do that too, if you want very high RPM can also do this.

pls call me with any questions and prices not mentioned here.

All prices are in CAD $ and shipping to you is on top, all prices above also assume you send me good rebuildable core pumps and or injectors.
broken, rusty internals or full of VEG fuels will incur extra charges.

all the best
Thanks

Giles

Great that you are too busy these days.  Must be from the plethora of types of diesel that are now out there.

Keep up the replace or repair for us.
