Engine codes with them?

What's the difference between the 80 and 81 Rabbit?
It looks like VW just changed their rating system (number of notches) because the thickness stayed the same, only the suffix on the part number changed
Looking at the part numbers they all end in 383 except for 3 of them, where it is 838, is that a typo?

what about tdi? i've been wondering if i could just use a tdi head gasket on my 1.6
-
Well if the TDI head, at least up to AHU, fits an AAZ, and an AAZ gasket fits a 1.6, then a TDI gasket fits a 1.6 as well.
-
Are all of the CS blocks tapped for 11mm headbolts? argh. I assumed it was a 12mm engine. Why would they do that- Vanagon engines are chronically overstressed.

yeah but what about the AHU gasket not having prechamber reinforcements??? that's the only difference I can see between the two engines....

just to add some redundancy (grabbed from brick's website)
1 notch - 1.53mm thick to suit piston protrusion of .66mm to .86mm
2 notch - 1.57mm thick to suit piston protrusion of .87mm to .92mm
3 notch - 1.61mm thick to suit piston protrusion of .93mm to 1.02mm
