Title: Permenant fusible link repair
Post by: Patrick on September 03, 2005, 08:29:07 pm
Walked into the local truck parts place on friday and purchased a 50 amp circuit breaker, cole-hershee, although others are available. Two screws to hold it down, two posts with nuts for the wires.

7.99.

Should be a permenant fix, working good so far!

Probably find them cheaper, maybe for nothing at a truck wrecker. I'll post a part number if anyone's interested.

Thats an awsome idea, Patrick. Is it somewhat, weatherproof, or did you mount it inside the car?

Just unhooked the two existing wires and hooked them on the breaker, wire ends fit. Took a screw out of the holdown for the fusible link and used it to mount the breaker. Probably should add a second screw (the spacing is different. I'd bet on longer life under the dash instead of under the hood, but I bet gooping it up with silicone would do wonders too.
