on my fav tdi.. been screwing with overboost situation for far too long with no solution then to disconnect the vnt line and let it stay in big turbo mode.. so little laggy.. but no limp home kill all the power...
today it did a whole new thing... the power steering pully fell off.. bolts still in pump.. with aluminum between bolts and pump..
pully looks like bolts left loose and it self machined its self off... ??? but bolts remain with aluminum between heads and pump..
anyone ever seen this? what may do it? ill assume somehow i left the bolts loose when doing the timming belt.. i cannot beleive i did.. but nothing else makes sence.. unless there is a known issue of say.. maybe the pump faling and doing this??
looking for ideas.. maybe due to turbo lag.. the awsome power of boost all of a sudden kicking in is too much??
p.s. car is autotragic..

leprosy???
I don't know man. I had my IP moving all around because I didn't tighten the bolts enough. Hopefully you just didn't tighten them all down completely and they came a little loose.

sounds crazy, never heard of it before. Any pics of the carnage?

If the bolts were loose, it would do that.

I agree with loose bolts. Judging by the oblong shape of where the bolts go, this indicates loose bolts.
