Title: AAZ vs M-TDI ALH for alternative fuel
Post by: 93Ford on May 05, 2022, 07:22:41 pm
What would be a better engine to use with alternative fuels such as WMO. My 7.3 idi will burn anything trans fluid, wmo, gear oil, hydraulic oil any type of oil it dont care whats in it. So i was hoping one of the vw diesels would work well with it too even if its just a 50/50 as it gets such great mileage. I would be looking for a little power out of it as well somewhere around 130whp. Will the alh with a mechanical pump and its DI work better or does the idi engines tend to be less picky

I don't have any data,  but the AAZ being the older design
probably can take more fuel abuse.

IDI engines were made to burn anything.  The first diesel from Ruldolf was a peanut oil burner remember?

how hard would it be to get parts for the aaz. The aaz wasnt sold in america right should i be a bit concerned with that. the alh engine is everywhere and so are parts

I think that the two are fairly similar on their tolerance of alternative fuels.
