Title: K14 turbo: Aftermarket CHRA (do good ones exist?)

Does anyone know of a good manufacturer of the KKK K14 CHRA.

It is for an '82 VW T3 van (Vanagon) with a 1.6TD JX engine.

It's for a VW 1.6TD JX (similar to AAZ, or same??)
VW BUS (T3)

The center section of the JX would match the center section of the 1.6ECO-diesel, *not* the AAZ.

Aha...  thanks Andrew! Nice to see ya over here again :)  [this is where it "all" started, if you remember :) ]

OK!!!!  ...so, I am now starting to 'get' that when searching for this CHRA it is not enough just to say K14??  So there are many types of K14's?

...or would you say it is enough, when I find a supplier, simply to tell them it is for a VW T3 1.6TD JX?

But maybe this CHRA is also used in other K14s which were used in other cars? [K14s seem to have been used in a myriad of cars and models, also well outside of VW].

I just located an original BW CHRA...  $420.
Andrew, I know you said before that installing that into my old K14 housing is something I can easily manage myself. But since this is quite an expensive item, I will just recheck this advice. From what I can see the basic housing is pretty indestructible and usable (otherwise why would all these "old turbo exchange" schemes be so rampant). Just the exhaust housing, the compressor housing, and the wastegate...   on mine they all seem in good shape. but exhaust housing old and corroded.

[the problem with getting the full K14 unit from Germany is that it weighs 9KG, as opposed to 1KG for just the CHRA, and I would be asking some friends to bring it for me to avoid DUTY & POSTAGE]

...OK, I can get the original BW CHRA here in Czech (by mid-aug.) for $340. No worries about DUTY/POSTAGE.

Maybe this is the way to go for now?
