Title: is it possible to swap tdi into mk1 chasis and keep tdi tire height?
Post by: damac on September 07, 2015, 09:49:21 pm
if i just looked up the info correct the earlier tdi cars have a taller tire height than stock mk1, mk2 cars?

but i think i see in a bunch of swaps people basically using the chasis tire size.  is this because of the room on the car or people like to add some more pep?

wouldn't the stock tire height give better mileage?

thanks!

im pulling the trigger on a mk2 gti that i plan to keep and restore/repaint and swap a mild tdi into and am not sure what to do in this regard.

i figured i would have to get some kind of tire that stretches to a degree and might want to lower the car just an inch or so and get fuller rims.

When I looked the tire was almost the same diameter. Check a tire size calculator and see if that is correct. Width and rim vary but tire diameter should be close to the same. Also, the earlier tires were narrower so if all other things are equal the less rolling resistance will get better mileage
