Title: Custom Battery Cables/ Remote Battery Mount VW Caddy
Post by: GEE-BEE on April 30, 2014, 10:46:27 am
I ordered a artec battery cnc mount for the rear of the caddy
http://www.artecindustries.com/Group-34-Optima-Battery-REAR-Mount_p_87.html

Iam doing a 1/0 postive cable to a BMW remote battery jumper near the location of the old battery mount

http://custombatterycables.com/index.htm

Going with a Optima yellow top

This method will allow more room for the interccoling silicone hose assys to the battery location

For less than half of what you would spend, you could make your own cables, I make my own. The same large gauge wire, zinc plated solid copper end lugs and terminals, and heat shrink are all available locally to me and relatively inexpensive... sometimes I scavenge cables from the junkyard, copper prices are so high... BMW and Benz typically have long, large gauge cables and are usually clean. I crimp or swage AND solder the ends on too, with a small torch for a truly indestructible cable.

I will be using 1/o cable with silicone grommets to go thru the cab in two sides..

We all do things different...

Some people make there own intercooler ducts, others have them made professionally

I also do aircraft brakes hoses and landing gear brake hard lines....

If you can find a Vanagon in a scrapyard, get the starter cable. 14 feet of BIG wire.
