I had problems with some of the polyurethane tubing after a few years.
 Especially if it was sitting.
It would crackle, like safety glass.
 I've been testing/using tygothane lately.

Thanks for the tip. I will keep an eye on it and maybe try some Tygothane.
As far as I can tell from cruising the sites, Tygothane is a polyurethane plastic. There are more than one kind with different characteristics. It is a trade name mix of Tygon and polyurethane, hence "Tygothane".
Here is an excerpt from one of those site:

"TYGOTHANE® Precision Polyurethane Tubing
Tygothane® is TYGONs® prescision polyurethane tubing made from a tough ester-based polyurethane. It is ideal for applications that require tight dimensional tolerances. TYGOTHANE® C-210-A is designed for applications where tight tolerances must be held. It has excellent abrasion resistance as well as excellent resistant to oils, greases, and fuels. The temperature range of C-210-A allows the material to stay flexible in sub-zero environments. It also has high tear resistance and is FDA compliant making it viable for a wide variety of applications......."

I've been using clear Versilon (previously called tygothane) tubing for supply, return and the jumpers between injectors on various vehicles for more than a decade. Great tubing. Resilient, flexible, ages really well, compatible with diesel or biodiesel. 1/8" ID 1/4" OD for the jumpers between injectors (https://www.mcmaster.com/5549K44/), 1/4" ID 1/2" OD for the line from filter to pump (https://www.mcmaster.com/5549K34/), and 5/16" ID 7/16" OD for the return line (https://www.mcmaster.com/5549K35/). The clear return line will let you immediately know if you are getting air into the system. Just look immediately after a cold start. The jumpers between injectors never purge the air out, but on shutdown you can immediately see if any are leaking in air and where (even if there isn't any diesel ever leaking out) as the bubbles will move toward the large return line.

I've been trying versilon/tygothane since Andrew suggested it.
For the 1/4" ID stuff I got it with 3/8" OD instead and it works great.
I'm familiar with that OD so I stayed with it.

Now I have to buy a 5/16" roll for the TDI stuff.
