My 92 TD MK3 golf started to play up, when I leave the car off for around 6 hours or more I have to crank it for around 40seconds for it to start and sometimes even more. After it starts if I switch it off right away and try to start it back it starts first time.
I dont think its the glow plugs but Im thinking it could be a leak in the lines? My tank seems a bit wet but there is no visible diesel leak on the floor.
Also this problem dosent happen sometimes even if i leave the car off for a day which is wired.
Where should I be looking?
thanks

Check all your fuel line connections. You may also have a leaking main seal on your pump. Mine didn't leak with the timing belt on but the second I released tension on the belt it leaked like a sieve.

where would be the usuall places for it to leak? The tank conections? Is there a lift pump inside the tank?
