I purchased a bosch pump and the timing gear shaft is longer than the 1.6 td vw/bosch pumps, so the pump gear is to far out, won't line up with the cam gear. Is the timing gear on the tdi's different? Does the gear have more offset into the pump? I noticed that the 1.6td pump sprocket has quite of outward offset. The pump body/snout and shaft looks just like a TDI so I'm hoping the TDI pump gear is different than the 1.6td's. Any help greatly appreciated

the early tdi's (1z)a3 and b4 had these engines, the gear was the same and the pump will fit on a 1.6. but the later i think 98 and up (the tdi's with the aluminum valve cover and oil pan), the pully is way different. i dont know if the 1.6 pully would fit a tdi pump, never tried but it may be a shot.
good luck

Hi guys
i looked it up on the Bosch DVD
it came from a VW Transporter 2.1 L
don't think it's any better than a 1.9L pump
we don't get that pump here in Canada
