Title: raced a dodge pickup:p
Post by: jettabrendan on August 24, 2010, 08:54:33 pm
last night while i was driving down the highway a passing lane comes up, i pass the semi in front of me then notice a white dodge pickup mere inches from my bumper. i pull over to the right lane and let him pass. but wait a minute i want to see how she takes off when i drop a gear so i start letting him pass me untill hes parrallel with me so i can see him. hes laughing cause he knows what im thinking, so he punches it and takes a lead, and thats when i decide im not letting this chump beat me to the end of the passing lane. so i drop it to 4th and start passing him and leave a trail of smoke so black that i couldnt see the semi that i passed earlier, just his headlights. to my amazement and to my friends that were with me, i smoked him with my 1.6l jetta... i could tell he was given'er cause the front of his truck lifted up as he tried to pass me all the way, if you cant dodge it, ram it, and if you cant ram it..buy a jetta?

im not super impressed with any of the newer dodges power. the hemis dont even go that good. and the 6.7's are really lackluster in my opinion..

The 4.7 and the Hemi both deeply dissapoint me when installed in a full size pickup..  Didn't think the 6.7 was too bad, but I've not driven one that minimumly  hasn't had the egr and exhaust "fixed"....

only thing against dodges, ive got semi built duramaxes and fords to compare to..

my brothers ford is a slug, and had plugged fuel filters, but i still smoked my buddy in his new 6.7 dodge.

and my dads Duramax.. it takes a hell of a ford or dodge to keep up. its so weird flooring it at 60 and going sideways once the turbo lites..

but then again, ive never really driven a hot rod cummins..

only thing against dodges,

IS that they're dodges?  Power aside the Cummins will take some amazing abuse, just a shame the rest of the truck is crap..

The 6.7 I drove was the '07.5 with all the nasty new model issues.. Simply removing most of the exhaust and the egr and it ran amazingly well.. Throw some more mods at it and I think it would have been mildly scarey.. The sad part was that by 50Kmiles it was on trans #4, new ball joints, new front wheel bearings, and a rearend rebuild..

My Dad's new Mega Cab does quite well. F*rds are disposable cars, make friends with the junk yard and you'll be fine.

They're all disposable..   The term "100,000 mile warranty" ought to be changed to "100,000 mile lifespan"..

The '04 and '05 models are generally now coming off warranty/getting paid off, and they are literally falling apart.. I'm not even going to pick on one single company about this.. When I started wrenching for a living back in the mid 90's one didn't see the number of problems or the magnitude of single problems till they hit 10 years or close 200K miles..

From the late 80's to the late 90's we had some pretty good stuff rolling around out there, of course that was after enduring some of the crap of the late 70's to the mid 80's.. (There were those particular models that really shined, and really stunk in those eras, but I'm meaning in general) Hopefully in a few more years we'll see an upswing in quality again..

Sadly, it's true.. Latest example being an '08 Kia roll in on the truck to day, it has the Hyundai 3.5L v6..  Last week at 99K I put a fuel pump in it (not covered by the powertrain warranty  ???)  today at 100,255 miles - water pump blew apart (water pump was covered by the 100K warranty), threw the t-belt, trashed the engine..  So much for THAT 100K warranty...  I really kinda feel bad now.. I did the T-belt at 60K and the W/P seemed fine..  Had I known they were crap I would have replaced it, although that probably would have voided something..   ::)
