Title: The Vwdiesel.net Facebook group is not helpful
Post by: srgtlord on August 08, 2023, 09:10:37 am
Not sure if any of yall tried to use the Facebook group we have that uses this websites name but my posts from the past week keep getting deleted. I guess people don't care about car restoration or fixing anything

who owns the site now? I am certain ryan sold it around 8 years ago. I have some ideas for increasing traffic. At this point the site should try and be more geared towards mechanical tdi engines, and guys guys doing swaps usually in 4x4 vehicles. There are too many sub forums now for this amount of traffic, it should be consolidated.

So would breaking out TDI builds and engines as separate topic headings be something we should do?

We only have that mTDI one right now I think, so perhaps We add some places for people to add their work and questions about conversions in a specific place rather than General Topics.

i dont understand what you mean. i meant i think there should be less sub groups and we should focus the forum on what has always been great for, which is vw IDI info, and mechanical TDI info. I think that could attract alot of the 4x4 swap guys. Most tdi stuff is covered to death at tdiclub.com, and the model specific stuff is covered well on facebook and over at vwvortex.com. I also think the forum needs an update, it would help if it was more mobile friendly, and maybe easier to sign up, like how many websites allow you to use google accounts or fb accounts to sign up.

Ryan still has his fingers on this place... have chatted with him.

It has needed updates for years but... The powers that be, well...

Plus it needs to be more secure!!

Anything else???

I think that is the main things, focus the forum on what it's always been good at, then cater to swaps, and make it more mobile friendly. Like i dont think it needs to host image necessarily, its easy enough to use imgur for that, but it could at least size them properly when you post.
