Title: Mtdi mk1 rabbit Information wanted!!
Post by: BigVWman on July 26, 2011, 02:48:25 pm
It seems i have scored another deal on an ahu longblock plus some accesories(needs some refreshing but no pump). I already have a fully electronic 1z in a mk1 and am mid process of a ahu in mk3 cabrio but now i want to see how the other side lives- MTdi. Simple and sweet. I need some good suggestions on pump and turbo as well as turbo control? I see most going land rover pump with slight mods, is that the next best thing to a giles special? On the turbo i was thinking of staying small and quick spooling and really want simple bolt on, i don't want to get into special manifolds or bracketry. I am looking to return to the days of 1 wire to run the motor and the simplicity it afforded. Of course i am planning on slipping it into a 2dr hardtop mk1. So any thoughts ideas experiments you have considered and never tried? hummm where did i put the old dial indicator!

i got one in my burnt toast project.. :D

as of now im running the stock tdi turbo.. boost reg easy build.. use a air pressure reg like they have on paint guns for painting cars.. i plan to go bigger this winter..

i used the rover pump due to cost.. gov mod.. have to use a mk4 style pully unless you get creative like i did making a adjustable pully like aftermarket cam gears.. runs pretty good... one day ill send it to giles to work over.. but for now there is no reason too..
