Title: year of the tdi?
Post by: passatdiesel on May 27, 2009, 10:46:15 am
Was 1997 a crossover year for the TDI, as I've been looking for an MK3, I seem to run into some confusion as to weather it was the TD or TDI. I have yet to look at them, but from the phone calls I've had, the 2 taht I've contacted didn't have a definate answer for me. Wasn't sure if the latter 97's were available with the TDI or not.

depends where you are i guess.  '97 passats should be TDI and '97 jetta's & golfs should be IDI if you're in Canada.  i'm not sure if the '97 jettas & golfs ever received the AHU engine.

you could always ask them something specific about the engine... as whether the 3rd injector pokes out more than the other three.  thats pretty cut & dry IMO.
