Which trans has the tallest gears?

I had a FF built with a .71 5th gear built for my jetta (had the dreaded AWY) and it still is not tall enough for comfortable interstate travel.

I think you should definitely start with a 3.67 RP.

I have thought about having another tranny built up to go taller.

Don't forget how much you can do with tire size.

I am going to try 195/70/14's (currently running the stock 185/60/14's) before building another transmission.    This should put me at 2625rpm for 70mph.

Good luck!

Anyone know why they only built the ACH for one year, and only in the 1985 1.6 NA?
2009 Jetta TDI Loyal edition, 6-spd. 16V 2.0CR

1985 VW Golf 5-spd, 4-door, 1.6NA  Bought from orig. owner in Savannah with 42,000 miles.
"Making the jump NA to TD" slow but sure.

I would go with the 3.67. I have an ASF in my Jetta and it moves about just great. ...

I love my ASF and equivalent trannies in my 'diesel road cars' (gleaned from gas jettas)

I also liked a 9A with a .71 5th for a mountain car with a tall 5th, and 3 gears very close 30mph-50mph

but.... my best economy has come for running my 1.6's flat out with .75 5th's  :?  or with low ratio 4spds (again, screaming at road speed)
