1.6 TD tranny Codes
« on: August 01, 2007, 01:55:37 pm »
Hi all, just joinned.

Currently Driving a Polo Classic, marketed in Europe as a Seat Cordoba, 1.6 fuel injected gasser, which I am busy planning on converting to 1.6 TD. Please bear in mind that locally we have just been offered by VW  the 1.4 3 cyl and 1.9 4 cyl TDI range. Up to now  VW only brought in a 1.5 D in the early/mid 70s. Not many manufacturers offer passenger diesels locally due to fairly high sulphur content on our diesel fuel

Was looking for a RA or SB type imported from Europe or Japan, however not llucky at all and had to settle for a JR type motor which I intend fitting with intercooler.

Am now trying to get the correct tranny info to match the motor. Anyone out there will be able to tell me what tranny codes came with the JR type engine, and when cruising 5th, what max rpm does the engine manage to get to on the open highway, running flat. I plan on getting a tranny with 3,941 final. I stand being corrected, but I recall reading somewhere the European A2 GTD was released with a FF tranny, 3,895 final

Already found a post to convert rev counter to get pulse from w terminal. Thank you .

Now looking for information and parts info details on how to build wire harness to support glow plugs for start up, not been able to find a post on it yet, will carry on searching. I need relay information, wire diagram, etc

Excellent posts on how to extract more power from 1.6TD and 1.9TD. Thank you, that will probably be phase two, once installation completed and car running stable.

Guys, congrats on an excellent forum
