Hi i have a 91 jetta 2 doors (love this car) its a 1.6 na diesel power is not that bad it had a few mods like turning up the pump and timing but still could use a little more i have a 1.6 td sitting on the stand waiting for a rebuilt is there a big difference powerwise with a 1.9td dont know how to create a shortcut but if you want to see the car its there http:/members.cardomain.com/bagnard  :wink:

I'm finding that the 1.9L is quite a different engine than the 1.6L. I think for daily driving and maybe even autocross racing, where the revs can get fairly low in a tight turn, a 1.9L is great as it has a good whallop of torque down low, especially if you're using one of the smaller turbos. Having said that, I think the higher-revving nature of a 1.6L would be better as a highly modded drag racing engine. I haven't (yet) eplored the revability (a new word for the dictionary) of a knife-edged-crank, lightened-rod & flywheel  1.9L  but I get the feeling that the 1.6L would still have it beat.
I repair, maintain and modify VW's and BMW's.
Good work done at affordable rates. Welding and fabricating, too.

well i guest i ll just go with my 1.6 since i already have it and lots of other parts for it, once the head will be ported and the boost cranked up it should have decent power i ll keep you guys informed on  how it turns out, pis salut blades dans quel coin que tu est pis c est bon pour le julep j irai un de ces soir. :wink:
