I'd be wary of an $800 bodyshop quote.  Heck, the custom shop I work for recently got $1200 for painting a motorcycle.  It was custom, but still.  We charge about $1000 for a basic paint job on a car, and that's without fixing anything.  We are currently repairing rust on a 63 Mercedes and I bet we have 80 man-hours in it already and we haven't even welded in panels yet!!!

Good luck with it, you'll need it.  But I always love to see people giving rotted out cars another chance instead of junking them.

Tyler, why not add the adenoid onto the NA pump and set the timing to 1.00?

Otherwise, a nice set up. With the k14 your boost will come on much sooner (read:usable) and pushing 15psi intercooled will provide you will nice results power wise with decent reliability....

The goal of the truck is economy so I think I'll get more without the LDA. Also, selling the pump will get me closer to a shiny new DP :D

Got some more done but I think it might be the end of the project, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Let me know what you think

When you see black *** piled up like this on the inside of the car by the PS fender/strut tower you know it's not going to be good :(

No, not into the air cooled VWs, but I am from Nova Scotia, where you can watch your car rust and on a quiet night, you can hear it rust.

That's why it's so hard to get a good, older car around here. I'd love a rabbit or caddy, but finding one in good shape is not an easy feat.

Tyler, it's nasty looking, but with any luck, you can get it fixed up.

HAHA thanks Lanny.

I'm not giving up on the truck yet. It is my ideal/dream vehicle I won't let a little rust and a shobby repair job from the last guy stop me.

I am afraid to remove the windsheild though, I think it might fold in half when I tow it to the body shop if I take it out   :(

Hey Tyler,
just utility knife the rubber seal on the windshield!! looks like that was the reason the roof and kowl rusted out was from a bad old rubber seal ! It's amazing how that if the seal fails it can destroy the body in such little time and you won't even know it! thats also the biggest cause of electrical failures  on the A1 chassie! well good news the seal is still available! hey you sure you don't want that chassie i got ? it hasn't been touched before so you could be the first one to do the repairs?
 thanks Duane
