Hello,

I recently bought an audi 80 1.6TD and some oil is coming from the turbo into the intake.
When i look at the oil return line this doesn't seem right.
The weird bent suggests that the line is too long.
Also an extension from the turbo to the Return line fitting is placed on the turbo.
Every oil return line i can find is either the same dimension or doesn't fit at all.

Is it also correct that the oil return placement is below the engines oil level?

I have added some foto's to clarify. What i would like to do is shorten the return line but in order to do that i think
a 45 or 90 degree bent must be made right from the outlet of the turbo.

Please let me know if the setup at the moment is right and what modifictions need to be made in order to work properly.

Thank you in advance!

That is a weird setup.
What is that thing right after the turbo, in the drain line?
Is that what you are talking about when you say,
"Also an extension from the turbo to the Return line fitting is placed on the turbo."?
There's a line/extension from it to the turbo?
Maybe it's some kind of check valve and the turbo helps push oil through the submerged pan port.

On the rabbits, golfs, jettas, there is a flange on the turbo and the hose comes off that.
No cast piece. Almost looks like a valve.
Maybe it's there because the engine is at such a slant that the oil returns above the oil level.
I have used silicone heater hose for turbo drain line without a problem.

Thanks for the reply!

When I look inside the extension, I don't see a valve or anything like that.

I think it's a combination of different engine configurations that led to this setup.

For now, I've made a short drain with two 45-degree bends and a short hose.

Did it need to be reclocked to get the drain pointed down to make it work?
