It won't make much until the engine gets lots of fuel. Maybe your wastegate could be stuck open as well. That would cause a lack of boost, though I don't know about negative pressure. You absolutely sure there are no restrictions anywhere before the turbo and that the filter is clean?

i revved it without the turbo intake pipe off and it was the same. I haven't put it into 3rd gear yet just 1st & 2nd, but it is real slow  The wastegate spring had plenty of tension but it moved freely enough with enough force. Maybe this is just normal and i need to get it into 3rd gear to see what boost there is. I felt the pressure out of the turbo and there wasn't really much, nowhere near enough to pressurise the inlet anyway

I thought i would try out the vdo gauge i have on the g60 just to make sure it wasn't the cheapo ebay boost gauge, but it reads the same. so i just took it round the block and gave it some and i think it started to read positive pressure, not much, but some  It soon ran out though, probably after 3.5k, suppose thats the small k03 running out of puff. Shall i adjust the wastegate to get a bit morer boost then?

VW says that you should have 2 persons to check boost pressure, one to drive at 60km/h in 2nd gear full throttle and regulating speed with the brakes.
the other person checks boost pressure.

don't try to do it alone!
