No boost, but she still whistles, and grinds, and the speed of it picks up and goes down on its own wirthout the engine RPMs changing, so *** it, I'm rebuilding the motor,

why dont you see if it even needs rebuilt yet? if its still healthy enough, just leave it be..
theres no reason doing a full rebuild if it still runs and starts good..
my $.02 atleast..

I wouldn't throw in the towel quite yet. It sounds like you have an issue, no doubt but I would speculate that it doesn't necessitate a full engine rebuild. I've torn apart TDIs with similar mileage and the internals have, for the most part, been completely within spec. Now if your turbo flew apart, well, that may be a different story. Do some digging. If you're not confident, go to the tdiclub and find a local guru and have them spend an hour or two diagnosing your issue, may end up being money very well spent.

The nearest shop that works with VWs is the dealer. I'm just going to change turbo and do a freshen up on it. Its not wasted money as I see it
