EGT gauge - pre or post turbo?
« on: January 31, 2005, 08:46:41 am »
where is best for optimum readings? where have all you guys got them, and for what reasons? - ease of fitting over reliable readings?
does it make a difference or is it just a case of compensating for slightly higher or lower figures?

I have the option of either and they are no more difficult than each other - which should I go for?

discuss :D
Cheers

I would mount it pre-turbo. No guessing or calculating then, you get the actual temperature and the response is very fast. Some people will say it's risky if the probe breaks, but nobody has ever actually seen this happen. I would drill and tap through the boss in the manifold directly under the turbo. This will locate the probe nice and centered in the exhaust stream.
