London Area VW GTG/Food Fest/Winter Pub Night :)
« on: December 20, 2004, 08:30:50 pm »
Hey all;
A couple of years ago, we had a London area VW Winter GTG at a local restaurant: kind of a year end, stuff your face-talk VWs kinda thing.
We had about 15 people and had a good time.
Would anyone be interested in such a thing again?

It likely would be at the German Club in London or at Molly Bloom's Irish Pub in Stratford. We are looking at around Sat. Jan. 8 or the following weekend.

So who's in??
Post here or email [email protected]    :D

Winter's bad for me to try and plan anything. (I drive a snowplow.) Getting over on the west/southwest side of the city would help! Isn't the german club in the southeast corner of the city somewhere? (I used to live in Lucan).

Hey;
The German Club is in the south-west part of the city; just near Wharncliffe and Springbank. hth :)

You're probably referring to the Dutch Canadian Club on the corner of Clarke and Gore Roads.  Don't ask how I know... ;)

Dinner at the German Club would be way cool!  But I think I'd stick out just a bit... in addition to the obvious, and add to that if I come wearing a pair of Lederhosen and bringing my souvenir stein and ordering Weißwurst and Maultaschen.  :lol:

In all seriousness, I think that's a great idea for a venue.

I talked to my Dad about the German Club; the only problem with that is we need a HUGE group of people to reserve it. Otherwise, it's only open to members (which my Dad is).

However, I am trying to get a large table at Molly Bloom's Irish pub in Stratford for Sat. Jan. 15. Please post here, IM or email me if you're coming so I can give them a number since it's more likely there'll be about 15 of us or so.
Thanks! :)
p.s. Stratford is only 25 min. from London, Woodstock and/or KW.

VW Club food fest: Jan.15 Stratford :)

OK, so we have a table reserved at Molly Bloom's Irish Pub in downtown Stratford for next Sat. Jan. 15 at 6:30pm. There is lots of street parking and a small lot behind the bank across from the Pub.
The Pub is located at 26 Brunswick St., Stratford
(519) 271-2778.

Directions:
From KW: Take Hwy.7 to Stratford (this becomes Ontario St.) Turn left at the first light in downtown (Waterloo St., then turn Right at the 2nd light (Brunswick St.) and the Pub is on the North (right) hand side of the Rd.

From London: Take Richmond St. North out of the city (this becomes Hwy. 4) until you get to Hwy. 7, turn right onto 7 and follow into Stratford. When you get downtown, turn right (7 continues right) then right again at Waterloo St. (just before you leave downtown) and then right again at hte 2nd light on Waterloo (Brunswick; same as above.)

From Niagara: Take 403-401 then exit at County Rd. 6 (Embro Rd.) go through Embro and north until you reach Hwy. 7; then turn right. This takes you into Stratford then the directions are the same as if from London.

From T.O. you can exit at Hwy.7/8 KW then follow the KW directions .

See you there! :)
(btw, when you get there, just tell them you are with the VW Club and they will send you to our Table.)

p.s. we chose Stratford cuz it's close to my house and I'm the organsier lol
but also cuz it's pretty central for people from KW, Toronto, London.
