AS topic states unfourtunatly i have to let go of practical. The car has been with me now for 4months and has been alot of fun to own. The car drives well and hasnt left me stranded both in hot and cold.The car has lots of new parts and work and for the age and KM id say looks great inside and out. Barely any rust and only 5 owners(first owner from 83-01!) Lots of rust proofing
New parts/good:
-New Alpine deck
-starter
-glowplugs+buss
-Battery
-exhaust
-fuel line
-oil,air and fuel filters
-coolant+T stat
-Acces Belt
-New carpet
-Spotless interior
Always run with Rotella oil and Sunoco Gold diesel aswell as addatives.
Bad:
-small tank leak(can provide new tank)
-Respray from way back starting to peel
-small rust hole at rear bumper clip
-Could use brake pads
-Windshield
For trades:
MK1 stuff(aftermarket)
Uber nice wheels
MK3 stuff(aftermarket for VR's)

I've driven this car. I think the timing is off but other then that it's good. You fixed the rear cylinder I take it?
My brother is going to look at pictures tonight when he gets home from work, he is really interested and said he can have the money together on the 15th. Maybe you can drive it up and we can go camping/fishing

anyone know how hard it is to import a car from canada to the US? I'd love to take this car off of your hands if it's simple.

It's over 15 years old and you had the same model available down there, I'd imagine it would be relativly painless
ive had a few friends import its simple, here are the basics
-The border to be crossed at MUST get 48hrs min notice so they have the paperwork ready.
- Expect to wait at the border for 1-2hrs
-You must pay a fee for getting customs stamps based on sale value.(about $70 last time i heard)
-You will have to pay a $50(approx) fee if the car is built outside the US(Built in Germany) Government doesnt like you not buying american stuff i guess
-There is a $100 enviro fee if the vehicle has A/C(this diesel DOES NOT) but dont make jokes about your windows down at 60mph a/c, customs ppl ARE NOT funny ppl.
Take your documents to the local dmv and transfer it like any car aslong as you have the customs documents.
Hmm, that sounds a little bit over my budget. I want to get another car, so that I can take my TDI off the road for a bit for improvements. Maybe I'll just pick up a local gasser instead
Thanks for the info though. It sounds like it takes some prep work, but is doable.
