I am getting confused. Do you need to plug any holes if using a metal 1.9 head gasket on a 1.6 TD engine with hydraulic cam followers? If yes, which holes and how do you do it?
I may be a bit of a newbie but it seems to me this subject comes up allot.
I have read every damn post I can find on the metal head gasket and the non hydro block to the hydro head swap and I'm still confused....
From the quantity of posts on the subject I would dare to guess I'm not the only one.
dan
so it can be made straight, this is the facts on using a metal head gasket
for a full hydro lifter 1.6:the metal headgasket goes right in, just like the normal gasket
for a solid lifter block with a solid lifter head:you just have to block off the coolant passage, you can either drill it out to be round and plug it, or do like Audi80 did and cut a piece of rubber to fit where the leak would occur
I blocked the hole with 2mm rubber. I did not drill those 8 holes, why should?
for a solid lifter block with a hydro head:you must plug the water passage in the block, and the extra oil drain the head. or you can just plug the head, then have it planed flat, then use a piece of rubber like Audi80 did.
I agree. Just another question, how do you bleed the blinker fluid and does anyone have a source for muffler bearings?
