TDI Tuning??? HELP PLEASE

I have just gotten my TDI running and I am having some tuning issues, hear is the current setup
1.9 TDI minus the turbo right now since its in the rebuild stage so I am running it naturally aspirated until I can get the money to rebuild the turbo
1.6 L IDI NA injection pump with TDI camplate and plunger head
I think that my fuel return line is cloged or partially cloged
and the tuning problem is that after running a little while the engine goes into run away because of to much fuel and I cannot find a happy medium for tuning its either to much fuel or not enough
any suggestions?
Thanks
Justin

well I pulled the govenor mod out so that the run away problem is taken care of, now I need to get the thing to idle, it runs great in the upper rpm's but when I try to get it to idle below about 1300 it just stalls out, or goes into a horrible 5-600 rpm idle
any suggestions on adjustments to the pump.

sounds almost like that dinky little pump isn't capable of flowing enough fuel for a smooth idle? hmmm maybe you should try a lift pump? or do you have one already?

I figured out the main problem, the TDI plunger head wasnt spaced right (it was on the loose side) so it wasnt getting the pressure buildup needed to run it, so its going to the expert to get the super tune since I done know anyone out here in AZ to tune custom pumps, it will be getting the Giles Treatment for the TDI in the Caddy, this thing should move when he gets done with it
Thanks jtanguay

good luck with the Giles pump! the m-TDI pump i bought didn't come with an LDA... i'm going to drive it for a while and see how much it smokes, etc.. if power and smoke is okay then i will just leave it at that and enjoy it!
if not... mine too will be getting the Giles treatment

Giles said that I had the wrong mismatch of parts in the pump, the main problem was the spacing, it allowed the pulnger head to go into a valve float and beat up some internals. so Giles replaced all the bad parts, along with all of his mods and a different camplate, and he sounded really excited at how much fuel he got out of this pump. it will be a little while before I will be able to take full advantage of this pumps power capacity, he said if I wanted this pump could supply 40 plus PSI of boost but for now I will probably keep it down around 20-25
I will let you know how it performs

it was a little more since I had Broken parts that needed replacing and he didnt like the way that the TDI camplate was performing in the upper RPM's so he traded that out, great to deal with and I should hav the pump later this week
the broken parts were caused mainly from loose spacing on the plunger head allowing almost a valve float inside the IP
Plus I sent him 2 pumps so that he could swap the LDA over to the 1.6 pump (it came from a 1.9 pump with the different main housing)

Well I got the new Giles pump in wednesday, got it running last night, I timed it to 1.00 mm and after the lines were primed it started first try, runs great I havent adjusted anything and it idles great out of the box. I need to get a good turbo or mine rebuilt so that I can start putting boost through this thing and see how it really performs, I will keep you all updated with my results
