While at the moment I don't have money to buy it. (but I wish I did I've got a perfect car for it.) I'm in the middle of putting together a similar engine for a GTD project...

I know that your looking for offers but since I'm close or fairly close anyway compared to Utah, or Arizona. Out of idle curiosity what were you looking to get out of the engine?

And, what's the time frame on your move?

-Todd

edit: I should add, that depending on the price I think I'd be able to scrape the money together for it.

so all this motor really needs is the oil cooler & hoses, and a Giles Pump!

for all the work done to it, and receipts to prove, what a great buy!

how much could one expect to pay for a motor like this???

I like to think it needs a big-honkin' turbo too.

I'd take the K14 that's apparently on it if it's in good condition. That's big enough for meeee.

What kind of power and boost will the K14 sustain?

That motor was newly rebuilt? And you put THAT waterpump back on it after supposedly spending all that money?
I call bull*** on it being rebuilt.

Ah...first I don't like people doubting the credibility of my posts, but if the doubter had read all of the posts he'd realize that this motor is not newly rebuilt, but rebuilt in 2001 and it has been sitting in a car and then in a barn ever since.  The car it was in was never registered or insured.

Shall I start scanning receipts?

amen.  i'd like to see someone try to have a motor look 'fresh' from 2001 up here in Canada... by 2007 the rust and corrosion have set in, and it really makes you wonder if the motor was rebuilt or not.  receipt's would definitely crush skepticism, and compression tests would seal the deal.

i would definitely recommend this motor to someone who is thinking of building up a 1.6TD.  pretty much all the tough work is done.  just need to buy the oil cooler coolant hoses, the oil cooler itself (or switch to an air/air oil cooler that will not help stabilize the engine's core temp, but allow it to be run very hard!)  and a giles pump, or a regular 1.6TD pump just to wake the motor up for now.

other mods like bigger turbo, intercooler, etc. can come at a later time of course.  but this is a GREAT base to work with!

all of these fun posts really wake up the TD nut that is still in me.  Anyone have a clean VW roller that needs a motor?

in response to that last post... I could always spray paint the motor black for that rebuild in a can look

hehehe!!!  i'm getting my TDI 1Z block hot tanked & painted with some of that epoxy paint.. i'm hoping it will last a long time with our Canadian salty winters.

nice shade of yellow most likely... and the only reason for it, is to detect any leaks.  (white would be the best to detect leaks, but.... no thanks   )
