The patient is an 82 rabbit, the pump leaked terribly from every possible location. I pulled the pump and sent it to DFIS in Portland for a rebuild (I tried to talk the customer into an NA performance rebuild from Giles but he wasn't into it

At any rate, I got the pump installed yesterday along with a bunch of new seals and gaskets, the engine was a MESS, FILTHY, but it should hold its oil now.
I went and fired it up today and drove it around, it was sort of smokie (grayish) to start with, but that cleared up for the most part as it warmed up, it had been sitting all winter which I'm sure didn't help.
The idle does seem a touch on the high side, but no tac so I can't say for sure, once it was all warmed up and I'd driven 3 miles or so the idle would sometimes stick at about 2000 RPM, kicking the pedal wouldn't "fix" it and the linkage was NOT binding, letting the clutch out (changing the engine RPM would "fix" it)
I popped the hood and looked at the linkage and it was definitely returning to the idle stop.
Is this something that will go away if I lower the idle speed?
What else can it be?
I really don't want to pull the pump again...
