so on my rabbit i just replaced the starter, but now it's not getting power(the starter needed replacing anyway) but i checked the ignition switch and it was fine, but the wire that actuates the starter is not getting any power, is there a relay i need to check?

for future reference it was the shut off switch in the shifter, because of it being an automatic

We had that issue in my wife's old 91 jetta. We just ignored it, and would wiggle it to start. Then it quit completely, when we were on a road trip. Not fun! I think all automatic VWs come with a factory-installed curse.

FWIW, anyone ever driven a N/A automatic jetta? Spooky slow

hehe.  i've never had it quit on me... even in the dead of winter -20C at night... give it a jiggle and away i went!  that thing gave me heat after about 2 minutes of driving at that temp.  crazy!  but it must have been the tranny cooling via the coolant?
