Pretty much any of the 1.6 mods work for the 1.5. So yes you can get more power out of your 1.5. But it would be best putting in a 1.6 TD.

Apparently just "adding a turbo" isn't quite so simple on a 1.5, unless you want to pull the 1.5 injection pump apart to add the LDA from a turbo pump to it instead of slapping a 1.6TD pump on it.
But I have a donor TD engine, and as long as the pump, block and head aren't cracked from the accident I am goooood tooo gooooo!

to do it on the cheap and easy, you can run without the LDA, like the eco jetta came stock

Not that much power increase that way, though.

I run my Jetta without the LDA, I don't notice a huge change in power, but there is something wrong with my turbo/piping I think

this is the first I've heard of the LDA being necessary for making the addition of a turbo to a NA a useful mod. Is this really true? I've been reading about how to add a turbo for months now and I've never seen this before.

the LDA is a boost enrichment device.
if you add a K03 or a VNT turbo, then you don't really need it, but off boost power may be smokey.
the LDA allows the fuel to be set to not smoke off boost. Once boost is achieved, the LDA starts increasing fuel to increase power. You will not realize a power gain from a turbo without more fuel. Uphill travel where your car would normally smoke will be easier on the engine though!
