I think they would be able to do something about that if they caught the video. "Canada's Worst Driver" on The Discovery Channel had a driver that was young, had a bad attitude and was speeding like crazy. So on one episode they forwarded a video of him speeding along with his licence plate number to the police department in his area. They actually even showed his ontario plate on tv  :lol:  Never know...

To cut down on insurance costs you could try paying yearly. I pay $1400 a year for my '90 TD (with 450,000km  ) and I'm only 19. Then again I have liability but no coverage for myself. No point. I'm a safe enough driver that I'm not worried about getting in an accident. If I do damage my car however, I would simply pay that with my own money. At the price that insurance charges you for coverage, most likely, not paying for coverage on my car has already paid for the price of a future accident.

By the way, I've never been in an accident or had a speeding ticket. (radar detectors are investments!)

Yes. However, I know they aren't in Alberta though. Not sure about Ontario. But radar jammers, which emit a signal to fool radar guns, are illegal North America wide.

for those single males in the USA, most insurance companies actually provide coverage on two vehicles for a lower cost than insurance on one. buy a beater, license and insure it along with your daily driver then just park it and you will probably pay less than if you just insure your daily driver.

I've moved from Upstate New York USA to Sonora Mexico.  Cost me $121 a year to insure my 99 Passat 1.8T Wagon.  Will be interesting to see what I will pay for my 83 Rabbit TD when I bring it down this summer.

Of course I'm in my thirties.  I haven't had a ticket for 19 years.

Yeah, I don't really understand it either. I guess they figure they can stick you for more because if you hold a CDL you must be making the big money driving, and then stick you again for CYA insurance for when you total some idiot's car when they cut out in front of you and slam on the brakes. Happens to me and my bus on a near-daily basis.
