Hello all,
I'm wanting to change out the bumpers on my 90 Jetta GL for the larger better looking ones with the lower valance built in, it has the boring metal bumpers sticking out on both ends now.
What year/s and models have the larger all plastic bumpers?
I've searched BTW but cant seem to find anything definitive.
Thanks

Up here in Canada, the big bumpers were available from 90.5 through 92 Jetta and Golf. If memorey serves me correctly, the signal lights are different sizes, so you might have to change more than just the cover, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Maybe someone else can shed some light on that.

the above sounds right. You also need the bumper clips for the big bumper.
If you are close to me I have a few sets of big bumpers

Terry if you were closer there is allot more than just a bumper I could use.
I still need turbo stuff, just trying to figure out how serious I am about keeping this Jetta before I go redesigning the engine.
If it wasnt for the sheer size of those things shipping wouldnt be to bad as they are not heavy.

find a local junkyard and i bet you will ifnd at least the front to at least get you started, and if the color doesnt match your car just paint it flat black.

I converted my car to big bumpers. This is what you need.
1. If you front fenders don't have two holes in the front for the bumper pucks than you need new fenders.
2. Front bumper pucks.
3. Big bumper flares.
4. The entire rebar assembly for the front and back. You can make the small bumper ones work, but its a little bit of a hassle.
5. The signal lights (the entire assembly including bulb socket) is unique to the big bumpers as well.

Are the front fenders differant or can the hole be made? I would hate to have to change perfect front fenders just to add some trim, as a matter a fact I wont. I'll keet the ugly chrone ones if that's the case.
As far as the flares go, that's another reason I wanted to do the bumpers.
I like the look of the big bumpers and flare combo.
Looks like the flares connect to the door trim as well, is that correct?
This may be way more than I'm willing to do.
Thanks for the help.
